Nauru Training Scheme

EastCoast Apprenticeships conducted the very successful Nauru Training Scheme for Precision Welders in May 2007 and 2008.  This program stemmed from the training strategy previously provided to the Government of Nauru incorporating three individual stages of training options as detailed in the original General Outline contained in the above reference. 

The Government of Nauru has considered expanding the Stage II program to include selected candidates to achieve Certificate III – Carpentry Selected Competencies.

EastCoast welcomes this opportunity to support The Republic of Nauru in their efforts to train their people in selected skill sets. 

Advanced Entry Adult Apprenticeship Program

This very successful and unique pilot adult program was nurtured in partnership with Thiess P/L as the Thiess Apprenticeship Training Scheme (TATS).  The success of the program is noted with an 86% graduation for Metal Fabrication participants successfully completing their trade requirements in an average of 55 weeks.  We have also seen 10 Electrical Fitter Mechanic apprentices complete and gain their electrical licences in an average of 18 months.  Both are outstanding outcomes for a pilot program.

  Discussions with other major enterprises are underway to expand the program. 

It is hoped to conduct further intakes in Brisbane in the future.  Those with an interest in joining a new Intake should register their interest with our Head Office.

Apprentice Regional Placement Program (ARPP) - "Apprentices for the Bush"

This is a new program under development that will offer adults the opportunity to complete an accelerated trade training program.  It has a number of unique features including a 'fly-in fly-out' approach to on-the-job training.  Participants will undertake their training in Western and Central remote Queensland communities.  It is hoped to launch this program in 2008.  Those with an interest in joining a this program should register their interest with our Head Office.
